Gandhi Jayanti is the birth anniversary of the Mahatma Gandhi celebrated all across the country con 

2nd of October as a national event. It is celebrated as the national holiday in order to pay honor to the Father of the nation, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (popularly known as Bapu). This day is internationally celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence after the declaration by the United Nations General Assembly on 15th of June in 2007. Gandhi ji was the preacher of non-violence and he followed the way of non-violence all through his struggle for independence of country. He is remembered today by us as a symbol of peace and truth.
